Arizona Reclaiming Witchcraft is an eclectic group of desert witches living in Arizona, USA. With a hundreds-of-member-strong Facebook group and deep-rooted connections to the global Reclaiming Witchcraft community, our Arizona group strives to create an open and welcoming environment for all.

Our SteerCo is a small group of passionate witches who all bring their unique talents, perspectives, and histories to the greater Arizona Reclaiming community. We lead by consensus, with no internal hierarchy, and with each of us taking on roles and responsibilities that fit our unique skills and passions. Most importantly, the Arizona Reclaiming SteerCo strives to embody all values of Reclaiming’s Principles of Unity so that all who gather at our rituals, Witch Togethers, and learning events feel connected, safe, and supported in their spiritual journeys.

In this blog series, you’ll meet each of the 2024 SteerCo members and get to know a little bit about where they came from, who they are, and what they offer to the community.

Meet Corra Movie Nerd and Teacher at Heart

Corra is a New York native who moved to Arizona in 2014. As an active member of Arizona Reclaiming since 2015 and SteerCo member since 2022, Corra brings her love of teaching and learning to the community. She is fun-loving and light-hearted, quick with a movie quote or a Disney reference, and she is always up for a game of “the floor is lava.”

Aspen: Tell the community a little about your witchy self. How did you find your path?

Corra: I’ve been a practicing witch since I was eighteen - right after I completed my confirmation so I’m a recovering Catholic still. I discovered witchcraft on my own by stopping by my local mall Waldenbooks and finding a copy of D.J. Conway’s Celtic Magic. I picked it up, brought it home, devoured it and set up my makeshift altar on my rubbermaid tote I kept at the end of my bed. The altar was easily converted, and I hid the book between my mattress. Fast forward to now, my entire family knows and embraces my path.

A: What are some of your favorite witchy practices?

C: I celebrate with our group, and maintain a practice at my home. I love burning incense and candles, meditation work, reading all sorts of witchy and mindfulness books, infusing my magick into crafting, spending time outdoors (in my backyard, at a bonfire or hiking). I also love trips to the coast to work with the ocean. I also work a lot of my magick with the moon and her mysteries. Oh, one more - since Witchcamp 2023, I’ve started a lot more kitchen and garden witchery. I’m loving that process of new learning!

A: How about Reclaiming specifically? How did you find AZ Reclaiming, why did you choose to become part of SteerCo, and what will you be working on?

C: Before moving to Arizona in 2014, I called myself eclectic and didn’t practice much in groups, aside from a small group of friends in college. About a year after relocating I found the Arizona Reclaiming Group in 2015 and loved it!

I chose to be a part of SteerCo in 2022 - I heard the call and I really wanted to be of service to the magickal community that has given me so much already; a place of community, magick and amazing friendships. I’ve attended Witchcamp multiple times after finding this group, attended a myriad of classes like Ritual Muses and online courses like Magickal Writing.

This year, I’ll be working on Merlin’s Magickal Meetups primarily with Thalia. At heart I’m a teacher, though transitioning to coaching - I want to be of service to people. That’s why I want to develop and co-create amazing magickal classes for our community!

A: Tell us a bit about yourself. What are some of your likes and interests?

C: Sure! First off, I’m a movie nerd, I quote them often - even in my spellwork. I love music as well, and I’ve either got a playlist going or ambient music (when I’m not listening to a podcast that is).  I’m all about Disney, pop culture, dinosaurs and cryptids. I love mysteries, the supernatural and true crime as well. I suppose as a Sagittarius one of my true passions is travel. I obviously love Disney parks, but thanks to my amazing partner I’m learning to love new destinations. I also love going to Ventura, Witchcamp in California and visiting home back in Central NY.

A: You mentioned coaching. What do you coach?

C: I'm a life coach dedicated to helping people through life's transitions, and I also help them get started on those things that they've always wanted to do, but haven't! Life is full of change, and I know from personal experience that change can be a great catalyst toward something better if you embrace it. And people have all these great ideas inside themselves... businesses, vacations, books... I help them bring those ideas to life, no matter what else is going on in their life. I lean on my own past experience, plus my education in life coaching and a long teaching career, to help people overcome their blocks, get past their fear of change, and find the inspiration they need to get started and keep going!

A: Is there anything else you’d like the community to know?

C: Yes. The floor is lava. 10…9… 8…*

*And that was my cue to find high ground.
